As the course went on we learnt so much and put everything into practice. It made us come closer together as a couple before we even had our baby. My husband knew exactly what his supporting role was and I knew in my mind exactly what I needed to do, I just needed to put it into practice. We understood that even though I was giving birth it was a team effort. The day I gave birth, the very first surge (contraction) that came made me fill up with excitement and joy. I didn't feel scared at all (and this kind of surprised me but I kept the positive vibes going). As the surges got closer together and more intense I still felt calm and excited. My husband was a wonderful support. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. Steve used many of the techniques we had learnt and practiced including soft touch, positive affirmations and relaxation music. When I prompted him that one of the 'tools' wasn't working he used another one from our 'Hypnobirthing toolbox'.
I continued to breath, relax and let my body do the work. Time passed and before I knew it we were in the hospital with our new little baby boy in our arms. Was it a piece of cake? Of course not, but it was such a positive, beautiful, relaxing, empowering and wonderful experience from start to finish. As soon as I held our gorgeous boy I looked at my husband and said 'I actually did it, I had a Hypnobirth!' And my husband still says to this day 'you looked like the ladies in the Hypnobirthing videos'. Growing up I never could have ever imagined I would have had a birth like I did. We are so grateful to Wendy and the course. Without her we would have never had this positive birth experience.
